Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway along with Principal Heads of the Departments and other senior Railway officials visited the Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd. (HMRL) on 21st July, 2026.
The General Manager commenced his visit at the L&T Metro Rail Administrative building, Nagole, where he held a meeting with senior officials of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited and L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad). Shri Ajith Reddy, Additional Managing Director, HMRL; Shri Shivendra Pratap, Joint Managing Director, HMRL; K.V.B Reddy, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad); Shri Sudhir Chiplunkar, Chief Operating Officer, L&T, Metro Rail (Hyderabad) and other Metro Rail officials also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the officials of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited and L&T Metro Rail gave a detailed presentation on the working of Metro Rail System including its operational framework, maintenance practices, patronage, on-going initiatives and future expansion plans. The Metro Rail officials also sought continued support from Railways for the successful execution of upcoming Metro Rail expansion projects at the Railway level crossings.
Further, Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, accompanied by team of senior Railway officials were given a guided tour of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Maintenance Depot. During the tour, the General Manager visited the Operations Control Centre at HMRL depot, wherein he was briefed on various aspects of Metro Rail operations, train monitoring systems, safety protocols and disaster management mechanisms. The General Manager also visited the Maintenance Shed, where the Railway officials observed various sections involved in the inspection and maintenance of Metro coaches and witnessed the adoption of modern technologies in maintenance and operations. The team of Railways officials also visited the pit line and observed the coach maintenance facilities. The General Manager and team also visited the Points & Crossings for the approach tracks for entry of metro trains into the maintenance depot.
During the visit, Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and the other senior officials also participated in a tree plantation programme at the Metro Rail Depot, reaffirming the commitment of both organisations towards environmental sustainability and promotion of green initiatives.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, SCR appreciated the maintenance standards of Hyderabad Metro Rail and commended the officials of HMRL and L&T Metro Rail for ensuring efficient train operations through the adoption of advanced technologies & good maintenance practices. He also expressed confidence that the continued cooperation between South Central Railway and Hyderabad Metro Rail would further strengthen urban transportation infrastructure in the region.
