Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II Stakeholder Departments Urged to Expedite NOCs

Highlighting the importance of timely clearances for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project, Mr Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD, urged all stakeholder departments to expedite the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs). He emphasized that these approvals are critical to securing necessary permissions from the Government of India and ensuring the project advances without delay. A coordination meeting with ministries and departments having existing, ongoing, or proposed projects in the influence area of the seven Phase-II corridors was held at the Secretariat on Monday.

The meeting was convened as part of the process to obtain clearance for the project from the Network Planning Group, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

The meeting was chaired by Sri Jayesh Ranjan and attended by Mr. Sarfaraz Ahmad, HMRL MD and Metropolitan Commissioner, HMDA.

Mr. Sarfaraz Ahmad reiterated the urgent need for metro expansion in Hyderabad and requested all departments concerned to issue NOCs for the proposed Phase-II corridors at the earliest. HMRL Joint Managing Director Mr Shivendra Pratap, Commissioners of GHMC, CMC, along with senior officials from South Central Railway, Defense, MoRTH, NHAI, Civil Aviation, GHAIL, DoT, TGSPDCL, TGIIC, HMDA, HUMTA, Irrigation, R&B, GAIL, IOCL, HPCL, and Reliance participated in the meeting.

During the deliberations, alignment details of the proposed seven corridors spanning 122.9 km were presented, along with information on existing and upcoming projects of other departments within the influence area. Permissions relating to sharing of Right of Way with NHAI, MoRTH, Defense authorities, GHMC, CMC, MMC, and R&B, railway crossings, crossing of water bodies including the Musi River at Nagole, gas pipelines, and construction within the Airport boundary were discussed, and Metro requested the respective departments to issue NOCs for these aspects to facilitate smooth progress of the project.
