Imagine a futuristic city seamlessly connected to the airport, reducing travel time, enhancing convenience, and prioritizing sustainability. This vision is set to become a reality with the Green Corridor Metro Rail connecting Shamshabad Airport to Future City via Raviryal. Spearheading this ambitious project, Metro Rail MD Mr. NVS Reddy conducted a field inspection of the Future City Metro Corridor, underscoring the commitment to rapid urban development.
Future City: A Green and Smart Metropolis
During the inspection, Metro MD Mr. NVS Reddy reiterated the vision of CM Mr. A. Revanth Reddy to develop Future City as the fourth major city in the region, following Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Cyberabad. This upcoming 15,000-acre metropolis is envisioned as a pollution-free, world-class green city with state-of-the-art infrastructure and seamless transportation.
To turn this vision into reality, Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML) is preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Future City Metro Rail Project. The goal is to establish a sustainable, high-speed transit system that integrates modern urban planning with environmental consciousness.
A Game-Changer in Urban Mobility
The Airport-Future City Metro Corridor is a critical component of this development plan. It will provide swift and easy connectivity between Shamshabad Airport and Future City, significantly reducing travel time and ensuring a hassle-free commuting experience.
The 40-kilometer-long metro corridor will:
- Start from Shamshabad Airport terminal
- Follow the airport boundary along Mansanpally Road for about 5 kilometers
- Reach Pedda Golconda ORR Exit
- Feature two modern metro stations at Bahadurguda and Pedda Golconda, facilitating the development of a 1,500-acre government land hub
- Extend 14 kilometers as an elevated metro line along the Outer Ring Road (ORR)
- Move through Tukkuguda Exit and Raviryal Exit towards the under-construction Skill University at Meerkhanpet
- Transition into an At-Grade metro rail corridor on the 100-meter-wide Green Field Road developed by HMDA
This metro corridor will be integrated into a broader transportation network, ensuring smooth urban mobility and promoting green infrastructure.
Overcoming Challenges: A Commitment to Progress
During the inspection, Mr. NVS Reddy and his team traversed rugged terrains, hillocks, and boulders on foot beyond Kongara Kalan, showcasing their dedication to executing the project effectively.
Recalling past experiences, Mr. Reddy highlighted how his proposal for reserving metro space along the ORR—initially considered a distant dream—has now become a reality. This metro corridor is expected to further enhance Hyderabad’s global stature by attracting investments and top-tier companies.
Looking Ahead: A Brighter Future for Hyderabad
The DPR for the Future City Metro Corridor, along with plans for North City Medchal and Shamirpet Corridors, is expected to be completed by March. Following state government approval, it will be submitted to the central government for further action.
Under the dynamic leadership of CM Mr. Revanth Reddy, HAML, HMDA, TSIIC, and other government organizations are working together to materialize this vision, just as the first phase of the Hyderabad Metro (69 km) was successfully implemented under the PPP model with an investment of Rs. 22,000 crores.
Conclusion
The Green Corridor Metro Rail from Shamshabad Airport to Future City is set to redefine urban transportation by offering a fast, eco-friendly, and efficient transit system. With sustainable infrastructure, strategic urban planning, and a commitment to growth, Hyderabad is on the path to becoming a truly global city.
Stay tuned as Hyderabad takes another giant leap forward in urban mobility and smart city development!
