Women’s Safety During Covid Times

Hyderabad Metro Rail, a milestone for modern Hyderabad has transformed public transportation like never before in Hyderabad city. The ongoing covid-19 pandemic is indeed a challenge, and again Hyderabad Metro has risen to the challenge in tune with the latest unlock guidelines.

The metro rail provides facilities for specially challenged and visually impaired, endearing itself to commuters in the city while women’s safety continues to be a top priority for us. Due to the Covid-19 challenge, we have updated our security policies and policy manuals, so that we provide a secure experience for commuters while riding Hyderabad Metro. The provision of exclusive women-only coaches, in Hyderabad Metro, is our commitment towards highest safety standards and strict action is taken against any unauthorized entry into the coaches. There are seats earmarked specially for women in other metro coaches too.

Hyderabad Metro accords highest priority for the secure travel of women and for the safety and security of women commuters, metro authorities have provided a WhatsApp number, for reporting. In case where anyone else (men or others) occupy ladies-only seats in Hyderabad metro rail or in the instance of any unauthorized entry into women-only coaches, we have a reporting mechanism, with authorities swinging into action immediately.

Round-the-clock CCTV surveillance of metro stations premises and the emergency ‘Call’ button, placed in all metro coaches, offers a safe experience to women. We are maintaining a mandatory mask policy along with strict social distancing to ensure there is least possible spread of novel coronavirus infection through Hyderabad Metro. For women, who step out for jobs, livelihood and other important activities during the latest unlock period, metro rail not only provides a means of safe and quick commute but also a reliable means for travel, with safety measures against Covid-19, in place.
