Telangana Chief Secretary Sri K. Ramakrishna Rao inspected the Metro Rail Corridor in the Old City, accompanied by Hyderabad Airport Metro MD Sri NVS Reddy on Sunday, 4th May, 2025. The visit focused on the ongoing road widening and demolition works along the 7.5-kilometer stretch from MGBS to Chandrayangutta, a region long overdue for development.
Expressing satisfaction, the Chief Secretary praised the progress made in the area, which had remained neglected for over a decade. He assured that funds would be released promptly to accelerate the project’s pace.
Careful Demolition and Community Coordination
Metro MD NVS Reddy briefed the Chief Secretary on the sensitive demolition activities underway, particularly in the congested Darul Shifa to Shalibanda Junction segment. He emphasized the team’s systematic approach—relocating electrical, telecom, and cable lines to prevent service disruptions and conducting demolition to minimize public inconvenience.
Mr. Reddy noted the presence of around 105 religious, historical, and sensitive structures along the route. To safeguard them, demolition of rear sections is carried out during the day, while road-facing structures are cleared at night using machinery. He highlighted the extensive engagement with local stakeholders, ensuring their cooperation throughout the process.
Metro Efforts Applauded; Funding Pledged
Impressed by the coordination and meticulous planning, the Chief Secretary applauded the Metro authorities for their effective handling of challenges. He directed officials to prioritize safety and swift debris clearance and reiterated the government’s commitment to support the project with timely funding.
