Mr. D.V.S. Raju an Electrical Engineering graduate from JNTU has served Indian Railways in various capacities for over 36 years and the last post he held in Railways was Chief Electrical Engineer/ South Central Railway. During his tenure in Railways he gained expertise in Traction Rolling Stock Maintenance, Traction Power Distribution, Traction Rolling stock operations, Electrical General services and Railway Electrification projects. He is known for his Administrative & Managerial capabilities besides his outstanding Technical contribution for the system improvements and Accident free train operations.

He had received the Certificate of Excellence and Gold Medal from the Ministry of Railways (GoI) in the year 2001, besides several other Awards for his exemplary performance. He was deputed by the Government of India in 1992 and again in 2009 to study the European Rail Systems which gave him an exposure on Metro Rail and High speed Rail Systems. After the selection process, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Board has appointed him as the Chief Electrical Engineer, HMRL w.e.f 27th December 2013.

He was also appointed by the Central Government as the Chief Electrical Inspector for Hyderabad Metro Rail Project vide the Gazette of India notification dated 17th November 2014 to exercise the powers and perform his functions in respect of Electrical works, Electrical Installations and Electrical Rolling stock to meet the requirements of the Central Metro Act.

He coordinates the relevant works with the Railway Board, RDSO, South Central Railway, Independent Engineer and L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd for their timely completion.

He possessed a sharp Technical & Administrative acumen which had helped in the timely commissioning of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project under PPP mode.

After commissioning of this project (69 km) in various stages from 2017 he is overseeing all the aspects related to the day-to-day train operations and compliance of safety related matters for smooth & efficient operations of the Metro services.
