About Mr. SK.DAS

Mr. S.K.DAS is a graduate Engineer from University of Calcutta. Initially he joined at National Thermal Power Corporation as graduate Engineer (Trainee) but later on switched to Indian Railway service for Signal Engineer (1981 batch).

Over 34 years vast Experience in Signalling & Telecommunication function in Indian Railways, he has served 10 yrs in construction, 5 years in Kolkata Metro Railway, 6 years as senior system manager for data mining and rest in Operation and Maintenance. Initial period of his carrier he worked in Operation and Maintenance and served Howrah Division as Senior Divisional Signal & Telecommunication Engineer for 5 years.

As Senior System Manager he has dealt Y2K problem and computerised 4 division of Eastern Railway.

In 2002, he was nominated to work in East Central Railway (Hazipur Headquarter) when the Railways were first bifurcated. Due to his able guidance the first new Railway had started within very short period of time. He worked as Chief Signal & Telecom Engineer in Kolkata Metro Railways for 5 years and during his time Kolkata Metro Railway was extended further 8 KM.

In 2008, He was sent to Germany and Italy for training on ‘High Speed Train System’

Just 10 days before his superannuation as Principal Chief Signal & Telecommunication Engineer of South Eastern Railway, he commissioned the new Electrical Interlocking system of 800 routes. He took only 10 hrs switching over time from Old to New system (a Record in Indian Railways). A special appreciation memento was awarded to him by Hon’ble Minister of Railways. Before his retirement he had completed 1year Business Management course from IIM/ Calcutta.
